Andrzej Piasecki (1951 - 2022)
Andrzej Piasecki, 71, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother in-law and an uncle, died from a heart attack in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, on December 28th, 2022, with his wife Krystyna, his sister-in-law, Ewa, and brother-in-law, Tim, at his side. Andrzej was born on March 20th, 1951, in Swiecie nad Wisla, Poland. He graduated from Technical College in Poland, majoring in transportation. Andrzej married Krystyna on December 25th, 1972. Their children, Zbigniew and Joanna, were born in Bydgoszcz, Poland. For 20 years, Andrzej worked for the Municipal Public Authority in Bydgoszcz, Poland, where he was the Director of Public Transportation. Travelling was Andrzej’s hobby, and he visited all the countries in Europe, while also working as a tour bus driver.
In 1991 Andrzej moved to the United States to join his family there. He accepted a difficult job as a truck driver, driving routes from Chicago to California, sometimes twice a week. He was a model immigrant, highly motivated, with a very strong work ethic and dedicated to his family. Andrzej retired in 2008 to take care of his grandchildren. He used to say that it was the best job he had ever had. Andrzej loved his grandchildren and was extremely devoted to them. In his free time, he enjoyed helping other people fix things at home. He was a very talented handyman – he could repair and fix almost anything.
Andrej is survived by his wife, Krystyna, of Clayton, NC, his son, Zbigniew, daughter-in-law, Sarah and granddaughter, Abigail, of Des Moines, IA, his daughter Joanna Johnson, son-in-law, Josh, and grandchildren, Olivia and Lillian, of Garner, NC, his two brothers, Waldemar of Gdansk, Poland and Krzysztof of Kostrzyn, Poland. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in- law, nieces and nephews, cousins and Polish friends in Raleigh, Des Moines and Poland. He has touched many lives and will be missed dearly.
A Funeral Mass for Andrzej will be held at 10am, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Saint Eugene Catholic Church at 608 Lions Club Rd, Wendell, North Carolina, 27591. Following the service an interment will take place in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens at 809 W Gannon Ave, Zebulon, NC 27 597, after which all are invited to return for a luncheon at Saint Eugene's Catholic Church hall.
